This morning I went for a coffee with my sister and her daughter, we met our Parents in Nero in town. My niece absolutely loved being the only child out with us and on the way there she was excited.
It could have been pretty boring for her sitting with all the grown ups but my sister bought her a lovely colouring book whilst we were out. In fact it was so lovely that we all had a go, even Grandpa!
For children there are certain situations that can at first glance seem unsuitable. In actual fact the quiet calm of the coffee shop combined with a session of colouring gave my niece a really lovely calm hour in her day. When we left she was really relaxed, singing on the way home in the car and being really affectionate.
Making sure we have some quiet times in our busy weeks is so important. Something as simple as going for a coffee can be a real retreat if we do it in the right way. By sitting and focussing on the here and now our minds get a chance to switch off from all the worries and planning that often make our minds busy.
After giving our minds a break we are more open to appreciating the things we love in life and we are better able to recognise and express ourselves.
Come on a Revitalise Day to see how some simple brain training techniques could help you to relax. When we take time to switch off we find that we have more energy and that we enjoy life more. Book on to a day retreat to start making the most of everything you do.
