Yesterday evening Martyn was out later than usual. He had a meeting on after school and it was about 8pm by the time he came home. Noah and I invited my niece round for dinner and we had a lovely time together.
Although I had a lovely time with the children I was ready for a break when Martyn got home. I’d had a busy day at work and I was in need of some me time. The sun was shining and Martyn was willing to do Noah’s bedtime so I seized the opportunity to head out for a late evening ride.
It would have been so easy to think I was too tired. It would have been so easy to have chilled out on the sofa or spent time on the internet. But I was SO glad I went!
The sun was shining and everywhere looked so beautiful.
Ladybird was just as pleased as me to be out and we absolutely flew round the fields.
When we got back we were both nicely worn out and I went home very happy and perfectly tired for a great nights sleep!
It got me thinking about opportunities. When we are mindful we see opportunities clearly. This can help us in all sorts of ways in life. I might well have thought, ‘I’ll just go in the morning’ but I didn’t. You never know what will come up. If you get the opportunity to do something you want to do just get on and do it.
Making time for ourselves is really important and if we can plan our lives that way then it is great. The reality of life for most of us is that there are so many competing demands for our time that things get busy and we can’t find the time for ourselves.
When you meditate you learn to calm your mind so that you spot the opportunities that arise. Rather than rushing through your day in a daze you see things clearly and recognise those chances where you can take a breather and do something that makes you feel good.
Come on a Revitalise Day to see how mindfulness could help you find some space in your busy life. You don’t need more time you just need to work use the time you have as well as you can.
