Hygge is the Danish movements which seems to mean being cozy and feeling content. At first it conjures up ideas of chilling out by the fire, drinking hot drinks and being inside with lovely candlelight. Certainly this seems to be part of it.
However yesterday I read a blog about applying Hugge whilst exercising, and so today I put it into practise.
When I exercise it is usually a cross country run or a ride on my horse. Today I did both. Rather than wearing my oldest clothes, and feeling a bit scruffy and chilly, I decided to go Hygge. I wore a nice sweatshirt, a cozy long top, and a scarf, wrist warmers and gloves.
And then when I actually got outside I took it steady and really enjoyed the moment. I didn’t run too fast or push my horse to go too fast. I took my time and enjoyed the extra comfort as I went.
It totally took any pressure away from what I was doing and made it so much more enjoyable. I was content! Better than that actually, I was loving it!
If you find it hard to motivate yourself to exercise what not try introducing some Hygge into your routine. Dress up, feel cozy and take your time. Easing your way in can make it so much more enjoyable and this gives you more time to be Mindful.
