Today we all walked over the fields to the next village to have a drink, it is only just over a mile either way. We had a lovely time – the dog was especially delighted with the activity!
It NEVER fails to amaze me how even a little bit of exercise makes me feel SO much better. Even if I feel feel sluggish before we go I always feel energised afterwards.
Today I also did a 20 minute meditation.
It NEVER fails to amaze me how even a short Meditation makes me feel SO much better. Even if I am super busy and a bit stressed It allows me to cultivate some calm.
So both of these healthy habits are great…
I was thinking that although both these habits have the ability to make me feel so much better, they also create quite a commitment that is on my mind every single day. They add to my ‘To Do’ list.
If I fail to exercise or fail to Meditate it bothers me. Sometimes I feel guilty – I am so committed to being well that I hate to miss out on my most important habits.
I was talking to my friend about Mindfulness commitment a couple of days ago and she was telling me how she had been very committed to Meditation for a long time and then she felt that she was doing so well that she didn’t need to do it any more. After a while she regretted her decision and now doesn’t feel so great.
So here are some top tips for keeping up healthy habits…
1) Be flexible – if your regular healthy habit time doesn’t work then be prepared to fit it in another time.
2) At the end of every healthy habit session take a moment to create a memory of how you feel.
3) Make the time you commit to your healthy habit enjoyable so that you want to do it.
4) Never beat yourself up if you don’t manage your healthy habit – feeling stressed about it is the worst thing you could do for your well being. Replace the time wasted on guilt with actually getting on with the healthy habit.
