Today me and my sister, Charlotte, met our friend Sarah for a coffee. It was really good to have a catch up, the chatter never stopped!
Being with Charlotte and Sarah, who were both very well dressed, got me thinking about how our clothes impact on our mood. Charlotte had some really lovely pink jeans on and they really suited her and suited her chatty and outgoing way of being. They were bright and looked great with a white top. Sarah also had a really nice white top on that looked so fresh and perfectly ironed. She had teamed it up with a really gorgeous heart necklace. I love that fresh white look but i’m not so great at washing whites and ironing doesn’t really happen for me! My whites tend to up a pale shade of another colour!
When we feel nice in what we are wearing it makes such a difference to how our day goes. No matter what our shape and size there are some outfits that make us feel better than others. Deep down we know that there are things in our wardrobe that don’t make us feel good. Finding the outfits that do make you feel good can make a real difference to your confidence and outlook.
So next time you get dressed think about how your outfit will make you feel. Becoming mindful will help you to become aware of your moods as they arise. Rather than blocking out negative thoughts you will be able to recognise them and then make a conscious decision about how you can improve your situation.
We all have things that are hiding at the back of our clothes piles, once loved but now forgotten about. Look through what you have and pick something that makes you feel good. When we feel good we start a positive thought process. We smile more and people smile back. We enjoy what we are doing rather than being distracted by self conscious thoughts. We get more out of life.
A great first step to making good clothes choices is decluttering your wardrobe. If your wardrobe is tidy, organised and only contains things that you actually wear you will find it so much easier to get dressed in the mornings. A clear wardrobe will lead to a clear mind at the start of every day! Just the act of sorting out your clothes will make you feel good.
Try these tips to make your wardrobe work…
1)Take everything out of your wardrobe.
2)Sort your clothes into 3 piles. Keep – Charity – Bin.
3)Make sure the Keep pile contains only things that you would miss if they weren’t there.
4)Clean the wardrobe out before you put the best bits back in.
5)Enjoy your clutter free clothing situation and get dressed with a calm and peaceful mind!
