Today I saw that it was Social Media Day. I have never heard of this before but I have to say over the last week I have been avoiding Social Media. In the cool down after the EU referendum I haven’t found it a positive influence on my frame of mind.
So for a week or so I have taken a step back from Facebook, Twitter and Instergram.
When the message Happy Social Media Day popped up on my phone it was a prompt for more positivity. I started to think of the ways that Social Media can actually help us to be Mindful. It was well timed for me.
Here are my top 3 ways to make Social Media more Mindful and more positive in your life….
1) Contact someone who you care about that you don’t usually have much contact with. Keep it simple, just send a kind message telling them that you are thinking about them. This little act of kindness might just make the world of difference to them.
2) Sign up to some of your favourite Meditation/Mindfulness blogs on Social Media. This way each time you look at it you will be inspired to be Mindful rather than swept away in the world of the internet!
3) Use Social Media to do good. This could be by thanking those who you value, finding volunteering opportunities, making donations or by raising money for charity. There are all sorts of way you can help others through Social Media.
Doing positive acts makes a huge difference to our own positivity. Try just one of the above and see how much better you feel. It works so well because it keeps you focussed on the moment rather than worrying about things that aren’t actually happening in that moment.
Come on a Revitalise Day to get more ideas for mindful living.
