Last night I found the charger for my bluetooth headphones and decided that it would be good to get back into listening whilst I run again. I haven’t been doing this for a couple of months, since we moved house, so I was quite excited about it!
I downloaded some pod casts and one of them was a TED talk about happiness. This morning it seemed like the perfect listening material as I happily ran across the beautiful countryside.
The main point that kept being repeated in different ways by each expert who featured on the pod cast was that people are happier when they are present in the moment.
This principal seems to stretch to whatever we are doing. So even if we are at work and we don’t particularly like our job we are still happier if we are present in the moment.
Even if we don’t like the thing that we are doing we are better off focussing on it rather than letting our minds wander.
SO as I listened to the experts discuss how scientists can’t solve the problem of unhappiness I was waiting for them to mention Mindfulness and Meditation. But they didn’t!
Mindfulness and brain training exercises are AMAZING for teaching our minds to focus where we want them to be. And I totally agree. When your mind is with you then you are so much happier!
To get to grips with some brain training techniques come on a Revitalise session. You will be amazed at the difference it makes! Happier as soon as you manage to come back to the here and now.
