In life, comparison can motivate us.
We might grow up striving to do well in education, to get a good job, to own a house, a bigger house, to have children.
But what about when the expected course doesn’t work for us. We can end up feel as though we are in conflict. We can feel like we have failed in an aspect of our life and look at others who seem to have it all.
When we see others with what we were striving for it can bring about feelings of jealousy toward them. This can impact on how we feel about them and sometimes, even, how we act.
What we really need to do is to challenge our expectations and decide what we really want. For ourselves, not for anyone else.
Do you really want a promotion at work or are you actually happy in your current role?
Do you really want a bigger house with a mortgage you can’t really afford or are you cut actually quite content where you live?
Comparison might lead to healthy choices to change things but beware of feeling like you ought to follow a certain path.
Mindfulness can help us to see how things really are in our life. To be grateful for all that we have. It can help us to see things clearly and make good choices so that we end up where we really want to be. Looking after ourselves and the things that are truly important to us help us to be happy in life.
Keep the green eyed monster in mind, are you looking to match or better others all the time? Have you really thought about what you want?
Come on a revitalise day to help get things into perspective. Learn how to look at what you really want with fresh and attentive eyes rather than eyes clouded by expectation.
