This weekend Mum, Noah and I fancied a little bit of shopping time. We headed to Leicester and had a lovely potter around John Lewis, checking out all of the gorgeous things that were for sale.
Then we went to Carluccios. It was late lunch time and it was Valentines Day but to our surprise there was a table free. We all looked at the menu and then proceeded to order a bit of a random mix of things…
2 Black coffees (me and mum)
A bowl of plain pasta (Noah)
A cranberry juice (Noah)
3 glasses of tap water (all of us)
1 glass of red wine (for me and mum to share as I just wanted a taste)
A bowl of green olives (me)
An almond croissant (mum)
We had the most lovely waitress and she barely raised an eye brow at our strange order which made the whole experience even nicer!
When mum saw my olives she said – ‘I should have had those rather than the croissant’ and I had to admit that they looked so attractive, heathy and tempting!
Sometimes when we are in a restaurant or coffee shop it can be all to easy to order the cake when we fancy a treat because it seems like the right thing to go for, it seems appropriate with a coffee.
Actually if you can pause for a moment and see some of the other options you might make a choice that is actually more nourishing and gives you less of the guilt factor. I loved my olives and they made me happy!
Mindfulness is an amazing tool in helping you to make healthy diet choices. When we learn to meditate we become skilled in taking our time and thinking clearly. Once you can do this during meditation you can then transfer the skills into everyday life. The results really are amazing!
