Tonight I was looking for some dinner time inspiration. Noah was hungry and tired after a long day at pre school and we were all ready for something easy but delicious.
I was so grateful to have some home produce to use. No need to stop at the shop. We had enough tomatoes and courgette to make the basis of a lovely vegetable mix. We had prawns in the freezer and rice in the cupboard. Perfect!
It got me thinking about our attitude to food…
Having vegetables growing in the garden really does open your eyes to how much effort and care goes into producing everything we eat. Rather than taking food for granted it is brilliant when you really are grateful for every mouthful.
Next time you are cooking spend some time thinking through where you ingredients have come from. Taking a few moments to appreciate the food you are about to eat will really impact on how you eat.
Rather than rushing through your meal you will find yourself tasting everything that you eat more than you normally do. When you are present in the moment you naturally slow down.
Taking your time over your food has so many benefits.
Firstly, increased enjoyment!
Secondly you will notice when you are full, this means you won’t overeat and in time you will achieve a healthy weight if this is something you struggle with.
Finally you will digest your food more effectively and more comfortably.
Come on a Revitalise Day to experience more mindful eating. With amazing food and a relaxed environment it is the perfect way to change your eating habits.
