Today I met up with the lovely Vicky and her 4 week old baby boy, Alex.
We had such a lovely time and were engrossed in chat. Alex slept through the whole experience!
Vicky did a 6 week Introduction To Mindfulness course with me on the lead up to her due date. I was over the moon when she told me today that her deep breathing skills, as developed in our sessions, got her through the experience.
I was in disbelief when she told me that she had NO OTHER PAIN RELIEF – her mindfulness was the answer…not even any gas and air!!! Totally amazing!
Pregnancy is the perfect time to commit to being more mindful because the incentive is huge. If you can beat the pain without drugs then the commitment of sitting for a few minutes every day, and practising the exercises, seems well worth it!
Vicky tells me that she is still using the exercises whilst Alex is feeding and this is providing valuable rest and relaxation during a very tiring period.
Learning the basics of Mindfulness really is a life skill. No matter what is going on in life a few minutes a day can make everything seem more manageable.
