Last week Noah was out in Granny’s garden helping her plant, water and label! He totally loved it.
When he is with Granny doing jobs in the garden he absolutely concentrates – there is no room for worry, upset or sadness. He is totally present in the moment and loving the experience.
Mindfulness is great because it is totally possible in everyday life and not just in Meditation. Everyone finds peace of mind in different activities. It could be gardening, walking along the beach, washing up even.
What ever you find helps to slow your mind is a great Mindfulness tool. The best way to achieve a bit more headspace is to find an activity that allows your body to be fairly still too. When you slow the mind and the body at the same time it is so much more effective.
I love running but this is clearly very active. When I run I think…a lot. This is because the body and the Mind are both on the go.
Gardening tends to lend itself to being more static – this has the added benefit that your body and mind can both slow down at the same time. Perfect!
