Today I read a Minimalist article about how less is now more.
It talked about FOMO. Fear Of Missing Out. Being busy used to be a badge of honour but many of us are now reassessing this.
Being busy can lead to stress, exhaustion and less happiness.
There is one big problem for me…FOMO. Fear Of Missing Out.
I TOTALLY suffer from FOMO.
If there is a night out being planned, a holiday being organised, even a trip to a coffee shop – I feel this longing to go and join in. I rarely say no.
I can totally understand that less unnecessary engagements booked in the diary is better. It means more freedom.
I crave that situation where there is more free time for the things I really want to do. And more free time to look after myself.
So this is my quest – to overcome FOMO.
This fits in perfectly with Mindfulness.
Mindfulness allows us to be present in the moment. When we are calm, present in the moment and focussed on what we are doing we make better decisions.
So Next time you are at risk of agreeing to do something because you have a FOMO join me in my quest. Bring yourself back to the moment and then make a clear decision about whether you really want to say yes.
