Today I was SO proud. Noah, our 4 year old, rode his bike all by himself for the first time.
He had a balance bike so we decided to skip the stabiliser stage. For the last 4 weeks we have been doing about 10 minutes practise a day and today he went for it all on his own. It really was priceless. He shouted at me to let go and so I did!
As he zoomed off ahead of me I watched with a huge grin on my face.
So it got me thinking. Why was I so totally delighted at this?
The reason is definitely because we have worked together to achieve this. A little bit every day really has done the trick!
It didn’t matter that the bike was second hand and it didn’t matter that we had no gadgets to help. It was simply time and patience that got us to that stage. Amazing!
Happiness really does come from the simplest things. Very rarely does it come from the things that cost money. Most often it comes from our own achievements and experiences.
