Today our baby started Primary School and I an SO proud of how he handled it.
He cheerfully kissed me good bye when I dropped him off, and then later on he arrived home on the school bus having had a lovely time.
It got me thinking how well children handle change. From Noah today I saw that there was lots of excitement and a real sense of joy.
He didn’t think about missing the old days, of pre school and playgroup, because that is in the past.
He didn’t think about me because I wasn’t there.
He didn’t worry about getting the school bus because nothing had gone wrong so there was nothing to worry about.
He didn’t think about going to school everyday for the next 16 years, just about today.
And that is the perfect example of Mindfulness. being present only in the moment and enjoying it to the full. Never mind what has gone before and what is coming up.
Change can be difficult as an adult because we have past experiences which feed into our thought process and create mental chatter. If something went wrong in the past then we expect it to happen again. If we have no experience of what is coming up then we predict disaster.
Mindfulness and brain training through Meditation can really help us to take a positive approach to change. An approach that can make life seem lighter and the world seem more enjoyable.
Come on a Revitalise Session to help you to enjoy life in the present moment rather than living a world where you are lost in thought and worry. Don’t delay because you could start to make the change today.
