This morning I was listening to a radio programme all about the role of robots in our society. The presenter was asking the audience whether they thought a robot could do their job as well as them.
It was really interesting to listen to the views of the audience. The key message that came through was that people value contact with other people. They prefer it to dealing with a robot.
One example that stood out to me was a languages teacher who pointed out that an app could teach languages really well. However the role of a teacher is much wider and includes providing support and guidance in a wider sense.
Mindfulness really helps us to value relationships and to build effective relationships with others. When we value others we automatically communicate in a more positive way. When people feel valued they respond well. This way progress is made.
So next time you engage with a real person, rather than a robot, value their time, value the benefit that human interaction brings.
