Today I took Noah to a friend’s party. It was a 30 minute drive away and he suggested that we play eye spy.
He was far better at it than me. He gave me tough ones though…pink blossom on trees, the radio in the car, the flower in my Beetle.
We were cutting it fine time wise to get to the party. We left exactly 30 minutes before and sat nav said it was 29 minutes. Playing the game was a great and very mindful thing to do.
1) It kept us present in the moment enjoying the surroundings – it made us notice things that normally would have passed me by.
2) It stopped us worrying about being late. We can only think about one thing at once and focussing on the letter we were looking for kept all of our attention.
3) We were having fun! Having fun is a great way to enjoy the moment. When you are having fun life’s other worries fade into the background.
