Yesterday we went out with my sister and her family. They are in the UK visiting from Australia. We went out to a local beauty spot and went for a walk. The weather was bright and lovely and we had a really good time.
My 5 year old nephew amazed me with his energy levels. We walked up a very steep hill which went on for quite some time and then even when we got to the top he had the energy to explore further.
It got me thinking about the mind body connection. The two are linked so closely that we often fail to recognise that they are separate and not one.
To relax we often focus on one or the other but watching Elliot made me think about this a bit differently. It seems that when the mind is fully engaged and interested in the surroundings the body can follow without much protest, even when it is worn out!
Having a keen interest in our activity means that our bodies energy levels can go much further than we might expect.
So if you struggle to exercise finding a location that really takes your interest could be the answer. It might be a beautiful location that you want to explore, or it could even be a TV screen with your favourite programme on at the gym. Just noticing what keeps the mind and body going is the answer!
