Double Booking Stress? Call On Mindfulness To Clear Your Mind!

15th September 2015 by Alex Leave a Comment

Today I had one of those days where everyone seemed to be wanting me to confirm times and dates. There were training sessions, medical appointments and social engagements to sort out. It all seemed to be getting quite hectic. I didn’t feel comfortable with everything I was agreeing to. I had that horrible feeling that I was going to double book myself.

My mind was getting hectic and thoughts of dates and arrangements kept popping into my head at unhelpful moments. I absolutely hate double booking myself, and then having to cancel, so I can get quite anxious when I think I am in danger of doing it.

I decided that it was time to take some positive action. On my lunch break I did a 15 minute meditation to clear my head. It was really simple but worked a treat. Try this on your lunch break…

Set your timer for the period you can fit in.
Take a few deep breaths and then let it return to normal.
Focus on your breath.
Count your breaths from one to ten and then go back to one.
Repeat!

So once I was feeling mentally revived and chilled out I went through my emails and my messages and made a list of all the dates that I had arrangements for. Then I went to my phone calendar and got everything booked in.

Diary

Luckily I did not come across a clash! Phew!

By the time I sat down at my desk to carry on with work I was clear headed and feeling motivated to get everything into such ship shape order! I focussed so much better once I had sorted myself out, the difference really was amazing.

I really love that mindfulness helps me to recognise when something is bothering me. When my mind doesn’t feel right I have the tools to sort myself out and to get myself back on track. If you need some help to get your mind back in good working order then come on a Revitalise day and see how much difference mindfulness could make to you.
