This afternoon I had a catch up sleep. Because I work nights I often need some extra rest to feel on top form.
Whilst I was deep in my sleep I dreamt that I ate a chocolate rice cake! It was AMAING!
I don’t eat chocolate because I am on a super strict diet to overcome MS. When I tasted the chocolate in my dream it was just as though I remembered it and I loved it. When I woke I was relieved I hadn’t broken the diet! Phew.
It got me thinking how amazing our brains are. It is 5 years since I last tasted chocolate and it tasted so real in my memory. It was precise!
Our brains store up so much knowledge over so much time that having the tools to let our brains have some time off now and again it massively useful.
As my dream shows – even when we are asleep our thoughts and even cravings can get the better of us and take over our minds.
Using Mindfulness techniques you can learn to give yourself some headspace in your wakeful moments! This can be more predictable and more enjoyable than the times you don’t know about in your sleep!
