This morning I took mum’s lovely poodle Bo for a walk.
It was freezing cold, raining and very dull. Despite this we had a lovely time.
Bo charged around the fields as I walked along the path. Every now and then she came back to check in with me, to make sure she still had me with her.
It got me thinking about relationships. People say dogs are man’s best friend. I certainly love having Bo as a friend. She is loyal, loving, fun and absolutely beautiful.
I think we could lean a lot from dogs. To be good friends we don’t need to be to be together all of the time but we do need to check in with each other every now and then. We can go off and do our own thing so long as we stay in touch.
If you have a friend who you haven’t checked in with for a while try this…
1) Write a quick list of why you appreciate that friend
2) Make contact with the friend you have been thinking about and touch base.
3) Notice how good you feel afterwards and commit to doing it more often!
