In 2011 I had real car trouble. I bought a brand new car and when I tried to get some faults sorted with it the garage just became totally unhelpful. At the time I got super stressed about it, it literally made me ill.
Last week I took my car for service. Before it went in it was fine. Totally fine. Since them I have had nothing but trouble with it. It even broke down. The garage I took it to this time don’t want to accept that they have caused the trouble.
Thankfully something has changed.
My stress levels about it all are fairly low and I am keeping it pretty much in perspective. I have learnt that prioritising my wellbeing is so much more important than falling out with the garage.
Mindfulness is what has done this for me. Of course I still think about the situation and get anxious about it. But my Mindfulness tools allow me to bring my attention back to the present moment rather than letting the stress build to an unmanageable level.
By taking a mini moment of mindfulness every time I get wound up about it I release the stress and get back to enjoying life. Despite the car.
If you have trouble keeping life in perspective then Mindfulness could be a great tool for you. It really does offer a vital coping mechanism when life gets challenging!
