Today I had to call my bank with a query. I was asked a million questions and a lot of different numbers before I could enter the queue to speak to someone.
When the advisor came on the phone she was so helpful. Despite it being the end of the working day and despite it obviously being busy she seemed please to answer my questions.
It often strikes me that having a good telephone manner is the key to making part of everyday life more enjoyable. Whatever the person on the other end wants or needs from you it is likely that everything will go more smoothly if you can be bright and cheerful.
When we give off good vibes to others they usually respond in the same way. Give it a try.
From a Mindfulness point of view, focussing on being polite and cheerful will keep you in the moment. When you have a pleasant chat it will bring a smile to your face which will relax your muscles. When you relax your body it relaxes your mind. So a phone call could be a chill out rather than a stress trigger. Perfect!
