Yesterday I took Noah to a Build A Bear Birthday party. He absolutely loved it. He came home with a bear named Dexter. Dexter is gorgeous and soft and even has a little box to call his own!
Noah was delighted to be invited to Evie’s party. Although he had never heard of Build A Bear party it sounded so much better once his cousin was pea green with envy!
Noah loves Dexter The Bear to bits and is so happy with him. It is a really mindful relationship at the moment and this new member of our family got me thinking about relationships more generally ….
1) Noah loves to cuddle Dexter The Bear. It reminded me that physical contact is so important. Whether it is hugging our friends when we meet them, stroking our pet cat or dog, or holding hands with our parters as we walk. The sensation of touch is so important to our well being and happiness. Touch keeps us connected with the world, it keeps us present with those who we share our lives.
2) Noah is proud of Dexter The Bear. When we arrived home from the party he couldn’t wait to show him off to Granny and Grandpa. Having put effort into making Dexter Noah felt that he was even more special. He chose his body, helped to fill him with stuffing. Put his heart in and took him to be sewed up. He even chose his top. In real life our relationships don’t start quite this way but we all influence those around us. If we can be proud of our influence this really can lead to greater fulfilment and happiness.
3) Noah is full of gratitude for Dexter The Bear. Going to the party and making a bear was such a treat for Noah. He was amazed that he was allowed to bring the bear home, he wasn’t expecting that at all. Because he is so grateful for him he really appreciates him. If we all appreciated our friends to this extent wouldn’t our relationships be amazing!
So we can all learn from Build A Bear, we can all make our relationships stronger. If you feel that being more mindful could help you to make life better book onto a Revitalise Session and start enjoying the difference in the way you feel.
