When I first went onto my diet for MS recovery I tried eating plain rice puffs. They really are just brown rice with nothing added. Boring you might think? Well so did I!
They were such big change from the breakfasts that I was used to pre the diet that they filled me with a real sense of nothingness! I couldn’t see the point in eating them.
Breakfast did become the most difficult meal of the day for me. I no longer eat oats and so porridge was out of the question. I do like porridge with millet but it wasn’t really delicious unless I sweetened it a lot with fruit. Some days when I m really hungry post run I have been known to have brown rice noodles and mackerel for breakfast but the smell didn’t earn me many friends!
I have now discovered hemp milk, a totally natural plant based milk that is really quite creamy. I now find that a bowl of rice puffs with warm hemp milk in the morning is great. Simple and satisfying and minus a big sugar rush from too much fruit, perfect!
It got me thinking about change. When new situations arise in our life it can be easy to feel down about the things that we miss. Actually change usually presents us with an opportunity. If we can be present in the moment then we are able to seek out new options and in the long run we can often see that life has improved.
Mindfulness is all about living in the moment. When we train our brains to focus on the here and now we see opportunities that might otherwise have passed us by.
Come on a Revitalise day to get started with a mindful way of life. If you already have a mindful way of living then come along to get new inspiration. Great food, and a great programme of relaxation and mindfulness could be just the opportunity you need.
