This afternoon our family have worked together to build a bonfire for a party we have just decided to hold. We waited until the sun came out at 1.30 to make the decision that, yes, we would do it. The party is on.
It was really good fun. We pushed a big round bale into place, wedged it with wood and crates and got a trailer ready will mulled wine ready to go. Martyn got some barbeques ready and we are all excited for the party that is starting at 5.
It got me thinking…the fun of a party really is in there preparation. Even when you leave it till the last moment.
Even if the fire doesn’t light, even if not everyone makes it, even if it rains, we have had the best time setting it all up. There has been a real buzz as we have gone about our jobs.
We really do have the best time when we are present in the moment. Rather than planning our party far in advance we have clubbed together to do the preparation together in a short amount of time. Less time to worry, more time to get on and do what needs to be done. We all had our jobs to do and we have all enjoyed doing them. Having a task to complete in a time frame really does make us mindful.
Every thing we do in life can be done mindfully. Often you just need to change the way you are thinking. Come on a Revitalise day to see how you could alter your perspective and enjoy life more.
