Today Noah and I have been most excited about it being my mum’s Birthday!
We woke up early and set to work wrapping her presents and writing her card. By half past 7 we were on our way to do a special delivery and to sing Happy Birthday!
Because Mum’s Birthday fell on a bank holiday this year we have had the luxury of a day off to celebrate with her, which has made it extra special.
We all went for a morning coffee together early on. Noah and I then took Granny to her osteopath appointment at lunch time. She hurt her back gardening this week. Being her taxi and being cheerful company seemed more important than ever given that it was her Birthday.
It got me thinking about how much enjoyment comes from dedicating ourselves to helping someone else. Having focussed on making Mum’s day nice has made my day amazing. I have had such a lovely time.
By focussing my attention on making her day as special as it can be I haven’t really experienced any anxiety or worries. My mind has been in the moment making sure Mum is as happy as she can be.
It can be really easy to become self consumed. We can slip into thinking about our own happiness and comfort above all else. As human beings we are prone to having a negative mindset and the combination of this alongside an unhealthy focus on ourselves can be overwhelming.
By changing the focus of your attention you really can change the way you feel. If you feel that you could do with an injection of positivity then think about developing your ability to be more mindful. You will be amazed in the change that you feel.
Come on a Revitalise Session to learn great ways to be mindful in everyday life and exercises to help you train your brain. You will feel great and everyone around you will love the difference.
