Remembering to fit a few mindful moments into your day can make so much difference. Rather than ending the day feeling frazzled you are left with more energy and feel calm. Remembering to fit those mindful moments in can be tricky.
I make plenty of hot drinks during the day. Rooibos, de caff green and mint teas are my favourites. Whilst the kettle is boiling you have a few minutes to do something. Rather than jumping on Facebook what about using it as an opportunity for a bit of belly breathing!? Here’s how…
Put one hand on your tummy, near to your belly button.
Breath out gently and then pause.
Breathe in through your nose by pushing your belly out as far as you comfortably can. Pause.
Open your mouth and pull your belly in slowly and as you do breathe out.
Repeat until the kettle boils and then let your breath return to normal.
This exercise is great because it relaxes you really quickly. You have to focus on what you are doing to be able to move your belly in and out so this takes your mind from your worries. It also energises you because of all of the oxygen you get in. Really magical, and just in the time it takes to make a cuppa. Perfect.
