Being on holiday in Padstow got Noah in the mood for a spot of crabbing!
The sun came out for us this morning so it seemed the perfect time to get our crabbing kit and hit the waterside. In the past I have found it difficult just to sit and relax on holiday, I have an inbuilt want to do things!
We had a lovely time and caught 3 crabs, the 4th was a near thing but he fell from the bait sack just before he reached the bucket. We tried to be very nice crab catchers, once we had finished with them we let them go and provided them with a feast of prawns. So we think the crabs had a good time too.
Catching the crabs really just meant sitting still by the water for a while once we had set the line up. Sitting still and watching lots of tourists walking past was a really enjoyable way to spend some time together.
People watching can be very mindful. Observing those who walk past without any necessity to take your thoughts any further is really very relaxing and it is the perfect way to be present in the moment. Sitting and watching people relaxing generally takes just the right amount of your attention, so that you don’t slip into thoughts about the past, or worry about the future.
There are so many ways to be mindful where ever you find yourself. Holidays can be a difficult time to fit a meditation session in but it is perhaps the perfect time to fit in some mindfulness ‘on the go’.
Finding a way you can enjoy being present in the moment is a valuable thing to do. It means you can take a breather from being on the go, physically and mentally. We all need this on a regular basis in order to be at our best.
If you find relaxing difficult be assured that you are not alone. Many of us find it really difficult to switch off and let go when we get some time off work. Don’t think that it is simply part of your personality, everyone can learn techniques to help them relax. Come on a Revitalise Day to see how mindfulness and Meditation could help you to switch off when you want to.
