Since beginning my blog I have really started to appreciate my friends more. Every day they provide the inspiration for my mindful musings and the more they inspire me the more I want to thank them! They make my life so much better.
Think through the people that you have seen in the last 24 hours. Write a list and then make some notes next to them – why do they make your life better?
Here goes for me…
The big ones for me are Martyn and Noah. There when ever I need a hug, always lovely, very supportive and really kind.
then in no particular order other than the order I saw them in!
Mad Kate (far left) is amazingly loyal and often Mad as her name would suggest! When I met Martyn she told him she would break his legs if hurt me. A little extreme but the sentiment was touching! A real good fun friend. We always enjoy our time together and no matter how long it has been since we last saw each other nothing changes.
Hannah, Fran and Sian and their gorgeous offspring! Three top friends who have stayed great sources of support whilst so much in life has changed. From school, through university, weddings and children. Everything that life has thrown at us has made us stronger friends rather than creating distance. Long may it continue! Their adaptability and understanding has really been the key.
Cath, I met through work and in my early days as a lawyer she was a real source of encouragement and guidance. She really helped to grow my confidence. Our working lives have moved apart but we have got closer and she still inspires me in so many ways, not least with her shared interest in mindfulness. She also always makes me laugh with comical stories. Last night she told me about her hudband eagerly researching the life expectancy of her new dog. He never was keen on the idea of a dog in the house!
This morning another great Cath in my life introduced me to her friend Stef. An amazing Paralympian who seems to be so so courageous and committed and so lovely and easy to get on with at the same time. The three of us had lots to talk about, many similar interests, mindfulness, aromatherapy, sport, almond butter! The list could go on forever!
So do your list for the last 24 hours now. You will realise what great people surround you. If by any chance you have had a quiet 24 hours then think about who you would like to include in your next 24 hours. It could be just the inspiration to get you making more of the people who you care about.
Stopping to think about others and how we appreciate them is a great way to take a pause in your day. Rather than rushing through your meetings without enjoying them to the full you are much more likely to take the time to be really interested, really focussed and really pleased to be there – in that moment.
Do it now – see the difference it makes.
