This week we have my sister Hannah and her family over from Australia. Such a treat.
Because of the distance we don’t get to spend much time together usually, save for FaceTime chats! When we do get some time to be with each other it feels SO important to make the most of it.
It is a fine balance though, especially with the children. On the one hand it is really tempting to fill our days so that we do as much together as possible. The rouble with this is that the children get worn out and then the day can easily take a different turn.
So finding a happy medium is essential. Today we seemed to get it just right. We went for a lovely walk which was just far enough to give us all some exercise. Then we retreated to a local cafe for coffee and lunch. We all came home happily worn out. The children still had enough energy to play and we had enough energy to organise some tea. Perfect.
Getting the balance right in our own lives is important every single day. We need to recognise when we have the energy to get things done and to exercise, and equally we need to be aware of the days when we should rest and recover.
Mindfulness is a great way to stay in touch with ourselves and to recognise how we feel. It can mean the difference between exhaustion and burnout or health and achievement. Come on a Revitalise Session and see how you could get more self awareness.
