Struggling to find time to Meditate is one of the biggest problems that ‘would be’ Meditators face! We all tend to be busy and finding 10 minutes to sit quietly can be really quite difficult.
One of the tricks I have developed is to arrive early. Where ever I go, be it a work meeting or a medial appointment, I tend to aim to get there bout 20 minutes before I really need to be.
This has a double benefit. I am more relaxed because my fear of being late and getting lost is under control. I also have 10 minutes to sit and meditate when I arrive. Perfect.
Try building this habit into your day and see your weekly meditation time grow! Just a few minutes every day makes so much difference to how you feel. You will notice your appointments go so much more smoothly too, relaxation really is the key.
Keep the exercise simple, just focus on your breath. Notice where you feel the rising and falling sensation in your body. Notice the temperature of the air entering and leaving your nose. Each time your mind wanders simply return your attention to the breath.
If you worry about others wondering what you are doing then maybe stay in your car to do it. If you use public transport then you could seek out a prayer room when you arrive at your destination. If the weather is nice maybe you could find a quiet spot outside.
New habits don’t take long to make but the benefit will last for ever. Give it a go.
