My Mum’s dog Beau is always looking for a game. Whenever Noah and I pop in to take her for a walk or to say hello she takes such delight in snatching our gloves. Where ever we put them down she spots them. Then the game is on – catch her if you can!
At times this distraction from the everyday can be really useful. Yesterday Noah fell on the stairs and was crying. he wasn’t hurt but it was a shock. Beau grabbed the glove and ran and before I knew it Noah had stopped crying and was giggling and playing again.
Adding fun into everyday situations can solve so many problems with children. The reason for this is simple.
We can only think about one thing at once. So if you are upset or hurt and your attention is taken away form that thought of feeling by another then your mind has moved on. This means your body can do the same and you are back in action.
