This morning I put clean bed sheets on our bed.
I had put the bottom sheet on and I started to think about going to put the shopping away. I started to walk out the room and then I thought…No. Get this job done first.
So I continued with putting the clean sheets on and then went downstairs to do more jobs. So much more efficient than swapping half way through one job!
It got me thinking about how distracted we are when we are doing mundane jobs. My mind was whizzing all over the place whilst I was changing the bed. Thankfully I noticed and then it settled down.
That act of noticing your racing mind really is the key to more Mindful living. Just by spotting that moment of distraction you are already coming back to the moment.
Using everyday household chores to train your brain to focus is such an amazing way to make your life more Mindful. Give it a go next time you have a boring job to do.
