This afternoon I sat to Meditate.
Noah and his lovely cousin were playing nicely in the next room. So when I was in the quiet of my Meditation and my mind started to slow down I was aware of their game.
It was so SWEET. They were discussing the coolest kids in their class at school and deciding who to role play as. I LOVED listening. It was like I was getting a rare insight into the world of the children that usually I’d miss out on.
Perhaps they would stop if they knew I was listening, or at least not be so natural. Perhaps I would be too busy to take notice.
But stopping and just allowing my mind to settle gave me a really precious moment.
Mindfulness can do this for us at any moment in time. If you can remember just to stop and watch you can be aware of so much more.
Now I’m off to a family party. It strikes me this is the perfect opportunity to practise. I am going to be as aware as I can remember….
