Last week my dad went away for a few days. Before he went he told me that there was a trailer full of hedge trimmings that needed to be put on the bonfire.
I think he was half joking and he didn’t really expect me to empty the trailer. But it was a lovely sunny day and I had 30 minutes to spare so I decided to take on the challenge.
It was hard work and took all my strength, but I did it!
I was really quite pleased with myself and send Dad a picture to show him what I had achieved.
Although this was a totally physical test it turned out to be a really Mindful 30 minutes. All my focus went on working out the best technique and then into the strength I needed to lift the load from the trailer.
Some times throwing yourself into a physical job is a great way to rebalance ourselves.
The job can be anything. It could be cleaning or moving something. Our bodies and minds are connected and so every now and then putting almost all of our focus onto what our body is doing can give us a chance to come back to reality and to zone in on our body.
