This morning I woke up with a plan… I was determined to do my tax return! I know it isn’t due for months but I wanted to have it sorted.
So I got up early and set about gathering all the documents that I needed, I started making lists and I got the calculator out!
Amazingly it wasn’t that bad. It is one of those jobs that I tend to dread. I get worried that my records won’t be good enough or that I won’t be able to work it all out.
Mindfulness really helped.
The most difficult part of the return was finding my P60 from work. I must have spent an hour trying to log on to our payslip online viewing system!
I stayed calm, it never got the better of me! I was sitting comfortably, nice and upright and I simply noticed my breath and tried to work methodically through the possibilities.
And after a million attempts at my security questions I managed to reset the log on details…phew! The sense of achievement and relief was really noticeable. This gave me a bit of a high that motivated me to finish the job!
I also found a bit of comedy in the answers to the security questions, especially when I discovered who my favourite performer was!
If you find that administrative jobs tax your brain then staying calm and focussed with mindfulness could be just the answer.
