This morning I went for a run in the beautiful sunshine. I set off up the hill which is always a tough start.
Recently my running has felt a bit slower, a bit more ploddy that usual. As I tackled the hill my legs felt heavy.
But then I reached the top and the hill levelled out and I realised I was not slow and ploddy this morning! I felt strong and speedy!
So what was the difference?!
Well, it was all in the mind. Once my mindset changed so did my body.
I came across 3 friends and my Mum whilst I was out. We were all out as individuals enjoying the morning and as I approached each person it gave me a real boost!
I was interested and entertained and my mind was focussed, yet calm. The Mental interest of seeing each person getting closer and having a quick chat and then continuing with my run kept things fresh.
When we run as a routine it is so easy for our minds to become dull and bored with the activity. We start to take the experience for granted and the enthusiasm that we once experienced can be lost.
By keeping focussed on the moment my physical ability was transformed.

1) If you normally run with out music then add some music! The beat of the music will help you to enter a faster rhythm, rather than getting lost in thought the music will keep you present in your activity!
2) If you normally run with music then try going without! Listen to the sounds of nature and then the sound of the rhythm of your feet. The difference will make a difference!
